It is safe to say everyone currently living in America and quite possibly the world has grown up watching cartoons; Whether they were in the movie theater, on television or through a mobile device. It is also safe to say that while watching said cartoons who have heard the voice of June Foray.
Most noticeably, she was the voice of Rocky J. Squirrel, Natasha Fatale and Nell Fenwick in the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show from 1959 – 1964. However, her career spans over 9 decades being on iconic cartoons such as The Looney Tunes, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Rugrats, The Powerpuff Girls, Duck Tales, The Jetsons, The Flintstones, and even an episode of Family Guy. She also was the voice of Cindy Lou Who in the 1966 TV Special, “How the Grinch Stole Christmas”. Her voice has been in movies like the iconic 1988 “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, 1953’s Walt Disney’s animation of Peter Pan and even did ADR work for “Jaws”. In other words, you have definitely heard her voice before. If not, you can watch this video at the bottom of the page of short clips that just scratch the surface of her career.
You can see her full resume on her iMDB page. Once you read that, you will definitely say, “Oh my Goodness! She’s been in everything!”
Unfortunately, she will be laid to rest as she passed away yesterday at the age of 99. She was less than 2 months away from turning the century mark. She may be gone, but her voice will live on forever as the many cartoons she was on will watch for generations on end.
Rest in Peace June Foray 9/18/1917 – 7/26/17
